David called the meeting to order at 7:06 pm.

David asked if there were any additions/corrections to last month’s secretary report (meeting minutes) that have been posted on the website for everyone to read/review. A motion was made to accept the secretary report by Gilbert and seconded by Bryan (motion passed). Dave presented the treasurer report. A motion was made to accept the treasurer’s report by Gilbert and seconded by Chisholm (motion passed).

David welcomed our guest, Tim Brauer, who is interested in possibly becoming a member in the near future. Tim is a Special Judge, District Court, from Chickasha, located in Grady County.

David reported that he wanted to verity the mission and status of the Bill Phelps/Elaine Jones Community Resource Center before we make the $500.00 donation from the moneys collected at our annual Kiwanis Kiddieland Park fund raiser that was conducted on September 23rd, 2017.

Dan made a motion which was seconded by Gilbert that we increase our yearly annual dues to $36.00, effective February 1st, 2018, an increase of $6.00 from our current dues of $30.00 (motion passed). His reasoning is that since this past year International increase their year’s dues by $5.00, thus cutting into the amount that we as a chapter would receive from our currently yearly membership dues. By raising the amount to $36.00 this would allow our chapter to keep $10.00 per member after $1.00 is sent to the Midwest Regional Conference, and $25.00 per member is sent to International for membership dues.

The annual Christmas Party will be at the Interurban, 1800 Country Club Rd., in Duncan, on Friday, December 8th, at 6:30 PM. So mark your calendars now! This is the same place that we have had the Christmas Party for the past few years. We will be doing a Dirty Santa gift exchange again this year, with a minimum of $25.00. Here is their website – http://www.interurban.us/interurban-duncan/

Dave read an email from Mike Gullo, who is currently residing in Florida, telling everyone hello and that he misses Oklahoma and all his Blue Knight friends. Please keep Mike in your prayers.

Johnny have a ride report on an event that he and David attended that was sponsored by Oklahoma Casualties of War, to benefit Brother Wolfhunter’s, SGT Matthew Schoolfield and Officer Daniel Ramirez. Johhny reported that there was over 30 bikes and that benefit was a complete success.

LaOna thank everyone for all the prayers, visits, and well wishes as she recovers from her injuries. She stated that she back and ready to ride!

So we decided to have an un-official meeting.

Since we had our Christmas Party in December, we did not have any meeting minutes to vote on for December. Dave presented the treasurer report. A motion was made by Gilbert and seconded by Bryan B. (motion passed)

The Christmas Party that was held at the Interurban, in Duncan, Oklahoma, on December 3rd, was a great success and from all reports, everyone had a great time. However, we were disappointed that no one received a can of Spaghetti-O’s in the Dirty Santa gift exchange this year.

Bryan gave a safety report on planning an escape route in case a motorist doesn’t see you and violates your right-of-way. Whether it is on the highway or city streets, you should always be looking ahead for a route that in case of an emergency, you can take by avoiding, swerving, stopping, etc. https://goo.gl/ffM7fi

Stacey gave a report on the Angel Tree (located in the Central Mall) gifts, that were bought for a boy and a girl. They were able get an outfit, shoes, and a toy for each. It was recommended by all that we continue this tradition next year. https://goo.gl/NBlpG8

Whitey reported that he is planning a day ride to the Weatherford area on March 25th. A visit to a museum and lunch is in the planning. More to follow, but mark your calendars now. He also mentioned that he and Stacey will be traveling the entire month of June to New Hampshire and back on the motorcycle. His goal is to visit a few Blue Knight chapters along the way.

David asked Bryan to contact Texas XX, in Wichita Falls, of possibly having our April meeting with them in the Wichita Falls area. Bryan will give us the details at the February meeting.

David brought up a discussion about having a raffle fundraiser for an AR-15 (which we could purchase from Murf’s Guns in Duncan). Everyone agreed that it would be an excellent idea and that we need to proceed with it. A motion was made by Bryan B and seconded by Gilbert (motion passed). It was decided that each ticket will cost $10 each. David would like to see each member sell at least 50 tickets. The member that sells 25 tickets will be treated to one night’s hotel cost at a Blue Knight Conference, paid for by the chapter. Bryan E and Dan are in charge of getting the tickets designed and printed. The drawling for the AR-15 will be done at the All-Okie-Meeting in OKC, on May 20th. More details to follow as the plan unfolds.

It was decided that we will host another All-Okie-Meeting, on May 20th, in OKC. Location to be determined. Bryan B is in charge of finding the location and will report by as soon as possible or at the February meeting.

Dave briefed everyone on the passing of Tom Ashing’s (the MWRC Secretary/Treasurer) wife, Linda, on Christmas Eve. Please keep Tom and his family in your thoughts and prayers. – https://goo.gl/8b07pm
